A Relaxed Setting for Optimum Learning
With Franci Discendum, you will learn in a restful environment.
Our school is situated in Viens, a small and traditional Provençal village perched high on a rocky promontory, in the heart of the Luberon National Park.
A UNESCO recognised Geopark, it has a geological heritage of international significance, and a visit to the Luberon is simply ‘a must’. This small corner of deepest Provence is one of the most beautiful and spectacular places to learn French and to meet French people
Come and join us and explore our beautiful hill-top villages, superb vineyards, and orchards…
Spend time between lessons, cycling through the lavender fields, or perhaps tackling the route of the Tour De France by riding to the summit of Mont Ventoux. Or take a walk along one of the many well-signed footpaths that criss-cross The Luberon, taking time to marvel at the spectacular landscapes or explore our ancient villages…
Practice what you have learned by shopping direct from local farmers and producers at our many colourful and vibrant, outdoor markets… Or simply relax in our cafés, watching the world pass by as you enjoy a coffee or glass of local wine
Our home in Viens is a great location, from which you can easily explore the area, and make the most of your time in Provence.
The stunning villages and markets of the Luberon, including Gordes, Loumarin, Roussillon, Menerbes, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Apt are within easy reach
The most beautiful sites of the area, including the Abbey of Sénanque, the source of the Sorgue at Fontaine de Vaucluse, the Village des Bories at Gordes, and the Prioré de Carluc near Reillane are all a short drive away or you can choose to take a walkes in the Colorado Provençal at Rustrel, or the ochres of Roussillon.
If you enjoy being active then there are lots of opportunities for cycling, walking and hiking, horseback riding, even paragliding and hot air ballooning, with swimming in the Etang de la Bonde, local pools and at some lodgings.
Finally the area is renowned for its cultural activities and there is a superb and full programme of art exhibitions, music concerts and theatre, taking place across the area, catering for every taste.
Whether you choose to explore the Avignon Festival (the largest theatre festival in the world), watch a performance of Opera or classical music at Lacoste, Gordes, Orange or Aix-en-Provence, or perhaps time your lessons to coincide with the classical piano festival in Roque-d’Anthéron, or perhaps the photography festival in Arles.
Or simply visit one of the many traditional festivals held in villages and towns across the area, celebrating their food, local produce and wine.
The school will provide you with all the information and documents you need to really enjoy your time in Provence and to have the best stay possible.
We want you to enjoy your learning through immersion in our magical place!
